The HZB International Summer Student Programme 2025 offers a unique chance for undergraduate students to come to the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin from all over the world during the eight weeks of the summer term and to work on pioneering research projects that are the focus of current scientific and technological progress. What are the Financial Benefits of the Germany HZB Summer School Program in Germany 2025?

  1. For external participants, the gross subsistence allowance amounts to €1,900 for the whole period of the contract.
  2. For students enrolled at universities in Berlin or Potsdam, the subsistence allowance is €1,000 gross.
  3. Applicants will receive a subsidy of up to 75% of their travel costs; participants within the EU will not receive a subsidy exceeding €200.
  4. Applicants from a non-EU country will receive €800, which should help recover travel costs between your home and Berlin.
  5. This internship will be a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week for the entire eight-week period.
  6. A dedicated eight-week contract dedicated fully to your assigned project and hands-on experience.

Eligible Criteria for the HZB Summer Student Program in Germany 2025

The following are the eligibility criteria for the HZB Summer Student Program in Germany 2025:

  1. Applicant must have an undergraduate student in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Structural Biology, Mathematics, Engineering, Life, or Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  2. Applicant must have completed at least two years of full-time study in your major.
  3. Applicant must be enrolled as a student during the internship.
  4. Applicant must be good English language skills, German language skills are a plus.
  5. Applicant must provide a letter of reference with your application.
